President Salva Kiir has issued a warning to members of the organized forces – saying that indiscipline and mistreatment of civilians will not be tolerated.

It must be instilled with self-control and it has to abide by human rights and the constitution.

“The orders I am giving you, you better listen to it well,” President Kiir said as he was addressing the army at the general headquarters in Juba. “The person in charge of traffic in Juba should be there because there are crimes that are being committed. Some of the crimes are committed by the police and especially the traffic police.

President Kiir also reminded the forces that South Sudan is no longer at war, and therefore no longer needs a guerilla army. “The time of struggle as liberators fighters has ended, this is the time to organize ourselves and we develop our country, nobody will come from outside to organize us.”
