JUBA, South Sudan (Eye Radio) — President Salva Kiir signed the Fiscal, Financial Allocation and Monitoring Commission Act 2025 into law on Thursday, taking a major step to strengthen South Sudan’s financial governance.

The Act was formally presented to the President at the State House by the Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jemma Nunu Kumba.

The President’s assent officially paves the way for the establishment of an independent Commission tasked with overseeing the national budget and ensuring the strict implementation of the Appropriation Act.

According to legislative experts, the new law is a critical tool for promoting transparency in the management of public funds.

A primary function of the Commission will be to monitor and regulate how nationally collected revenues are allocated and disbursed across the country’s States, Counties, and Administrative Areas.

Key Functions of the New Commission:

• Budgetary Control: Ensuring all government spending aligns with the approved national budget.

• Fair Allocation: Overseeing the equitable distribution of resources to local government levels.

• Independent Oversight: Acting as an autonomous body to prevent the misappropriation of funds.

The establishment of this Commission is viewed by lawmakers as a vital reform to build public trust and ensure that national wealth reaches all corners of the country through a regulated and monitored system.
