President Kiir in Ethiopia for AU Summit

President Salva Kiir arrived in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on Thursday to participate in the 37th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Heads of State Assembly. 

Kiir was received at Bole International Airport by Ethiopia’s Peace Minister Binalf Andualem.

The president’s spokeswoman, Lily Adhieu Martin said the summit will discuss pressing issues affecting the African continent.

President Kiir, the current Chairperson of the East African Community, will reportedly hold sideline meetings with the EAC Heads of State and IGAD leaders to discuss Sudan crisis and regional peace and security.

He was seen off at the Juba International Airport by the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar, among other officials on Thursdayafternoon.
