Power outage at Juba Teaching Hospital

Author : | Published: Tuesday, December 13, 2016

The Juba Teaching Hospital has been operating without electricity supply for the last five days, an official has told Eye Radio.

Dr Maker Isaac Wol, the Director of the hospital, says the main generator, which supplies power to the hospital, has broken down.

He stated that they are unable to repair the generator due to the unavailability of spare parts within the country.

“The solution is for us to get a new generator, because this one has become old,” Dr Wol stressed. “It had been operating since 2008.”

Dr Wol said the ministries of health and finance are engaged in finding a solution to the power outages at the government-run health facility.

Victims of a grenade explosion in Mauna area yesterday told Eye Radio that they had to be transferred to a private clinic in Juba, after failing to get surgery operations due to lack of electricity at Juba Teaching Hospital.
