Police record security incidents nationwide from 26-30 December

Police have registered multiple incidents across South Sudan in the last four days including two fatal cases in Western Bahr el Ghazal and Warrap and the raping of a 12-year-old girl in Northern Bahr el Ghazal.

Col. John Kassara Koang Nhial said a 31-year-old woman was beaten to death by her husband in Gogrial West County of Warrap State, on December 26. He said the suspect is in custody, and a case has been filed.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old man was assaulted and stabbed to death in Western Bahr el Ghazal and the suspect apprehended.

Mr. Kassara further revealed that a 12-year-old girl was raped by a 38-year-old man in Aweil East County in Northern Bahr el Ghazal on December 26.

The victim is reportedly receiving medical care and the suspect is under investigation.

A 44-year-old Sudanese national was shot and injured by an unidentified armed individual in Maban County in Upper Nile State. Another incident happened in Maban refugee camp, where a Sudanese man mistakenly shot and injured his wife.

Meanwhile, the police spokesperson has announced comprehensive security plans for the police during the new year eve including search operations in celebration venues.

He affirmed that security officers will continue vehicle searches on highways to ensure safety and property protection, safeguard churches and celebration venues and prevent theft or destruction of decorations.

Other measures include protection of busy retail areas and prevention of cybercrimes targeting online shoppers.

Meanwhile, Col. Kassara warns nightclub owners against allowing teenagers to organize unauthorized discos or social gatherings at their premises.
