The police are investigating the detained father accused of piercing his daughter’s eyes in Tonj East County, the Inspector General of Police has said.

The statement of General Majak Akech came after the injured Akuot Agany Kur arrived in Juba on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.

He says the institution will not tolerate the act of an officer who pricked his daughter’s eyes in Tonj East County last week.

According to General Majak, the case against suspect Angelo Agany is being treated as a criminal offense.

Akech called on the citizens to stay calm as the police investigate the matter.

“I want to tell our people and all parties who are related to this girl or her mother or father, people didn’t agree on it as a family or group and it’s not a political issue rather it is a criminal case,” Gen. Akech.

“We listened to the statement of his daughter about why he did this crime. It’s a purely criminal case and we are investigating it,

“The person who is responsible for this crime will tell us why he did this crime and the law will take its course.”

Suspect Angelo Agany has been detained at the Wau main prison in Western Bahr el Ghazal State, awaiting prosecution.
