The Ministry of Petroleum said it is deeply saddened by the untimely passing of colleague Eng. Conty Okot P’ Ogwaro who, according to sources, was allegedly shot dead on Monday, January 19th 2026, along Rock City–Custom Road.

There has not been any official statement on the circumstances surrounding the brutal killing of P’Ogwaro.

A social media video circulating on Monday appeared to show a government-plated vehicle with bullet holes, with what appears to be a driver killed inside the car.

Several social media sources later reportedly identified the victim as Eng. Conty Okot P’ Ogwaro, a director general in charge of pipeline affairs at the Ministry of Petroleum.

The statement by the Ministry of Petroleum did not explain the circumstances surrounding his death, but said Eng. Conty Okot was a dedicated and committed professional whose service, integrity, and contributions to the ministry and the petroleum sector at large will be remembered with great respect and gratitude.

“His loss is profoundly felt not only the immediate family and the Ministry but also among all who had the privilege of working with him,” read in part the statement issued on Tuesday afternoon.

The leadership and staff of the Ministry of Petroleum extended their condolences to the family, friends and relatives of the late.

“On behalf of the leadership and staff of the Ministry of Petroleum, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, friends, relatives, in-laws, colleagues in both MOP and and South Sudan Pipeline Company and loved ones during this difficult time.

“We share in your grief and pray that you find strength, comfort, and solace as we mourn this great loss,” the statement said.
