Four people killed in Gok state communal clash

Four people have been killed in a communal clash in Gok State, which was created from the former Lakes.

Local officials say the clash last evening was between communities in two separate payams.

They say youth from one community made a revenge attack for a previous incident in 2013, in which one man was shot dead.

“They had a conflict, and then this relative of the deceased from Duanj payam went and killed people in Adrow,” our correspondent in the state, Michael Makuach reported.

Makuch also reported that authorities of in the area had reportedly deployed a group of soldiers in the cattle camp, known as Bargel, where the fighting was erupted, to help contain the situation.

The two communities were in a reconciliation process before the recent killing. Authorities say tension is still high between the two payams.
