Pagan officially resumes duty as SPLM Sec. Gen.

The SPLM Secretary General, Pagan Amum has officially resumed his duty in Juba today.

He was sworn in after the National Liberation Council approved his reinstatement last month.

It is part of the implementation of the Arusha Agreement, to reunite the party.

Mr. Pagan told the party secretariat during a meeting this afternoon, that there is an ongoing effort to reach an agreement with SPLM in Opposition within a month.

‘‘We have been led by comrade Deng Alor, the remaining part of us are engaging, actually even from yesterday and today, they are meeting with SPLM IO. But of course their Prioritizing the issue of peace; to ending this war and we wanted to make sure that peace comes, if not within this month, it must be no later than the mid of next month. But the pushing is to make sure that it is within this month,” Mr. Pagan.

Last month SPLM Secretary-General, Pagan Amum, said the final peace agreement to end the conflict may be signed before the 9th of July.
