Official commends Malakal Bishop, well-wishers for evacuating returnees

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs has acknowledged the support of the Catholic Church of Malakal and other well-wishers in evacuating returnees from Renk.

Minister Albino Akol Atak says since the conflict erupted in Sudan, the Bishop of the Catholic Church of Malakal has ferried more than one thousand people by boats from Renk to Malakal.

Albino also commended what he calls citizens of goodwill including the business community for having chartered over 30 flights to evacuate people from Paloch.

“Yes, we acknowledge those who supported us and they did a great job by actually donating thirty flights that helped to evacuate our people from Paloch,

“Our citizens of goodwill and business people who have donated over 30 flights carrying a substantial number of people estimated at 20,000 people since the conflict erupted in Sudan,

‘The bishop of the catholic church of Malakal who ferried more than 1,000 people by boats from Renk to Malakal,” Minister Albino made the remarks while presenting a report on the Impact of the Sudan Crisis on the Humanitarian situation in South Sudan at the Revitalized Transitional National Legislative Assembly RTNLA in Juba on Wednesday.
