The National Election Commission (NEC) has launched its official website to provide accurate, timely, and clear information about the election process as the country prepares for the 2026 general elections.
The newly unveiled website, available at www.nec.gov.ss, was officially launched on Wednesday, December 11, in Juba.
The launch marks a significant milestone in the Commission’s efforts to enhance transparency and accessibility of information regarding the electoral process.
“Today, we are happy because we have reached a stage where we can now connect with the world,” said Prof. Abednego Akok, Chairperson of the NEC.
He emphasized that, unlike in the past, citizens and the international community will now have direct access to information about the elections and the preparations underway.
Prof. Akok further noted that all critical updates and progress related to the elections would be available on the website, making it easier for the public to stay informed.
“With the elections extended to 2026, it is essential that we begin preparations immediately,” he added.
The website aims to serve as the NEC’s primary digital platform, offering the public timely updates, election-related news, and access to official documents.
The NEC spokesperson, Mr George Lemi, highlighted that the platform would play a vital role in ensuring that the electoral process remains credible and transparent.
“Clear, credible, factual, and timely communication is a cornerstone of the electoral process,” Lemi stated, inviting the public to visit the site regularly for the latest updates.
With this new digital channel, the NEC aims to ensure that citizens can access reliable, comprehensive information as they prepare for the upcoming elections, contributing to a well-informed electorate.
