NCA approves inception of Space Engineering Laboratory at UoJ: Akech

The National Communication Authority (NCA) has endorsed a concept note for the establishment of a Space Engineering Laboratory at the University of Juba, says a communication official.

Prof. John Akech Apuruot, Chairperson of the NCA Board of Directors said the initiative is aimed at advancing space science and satellite engineering in South Sudan.

Prof. Akech announced that the NCA will fund the project, citing its importance in training the next generation of space scientists and engineers.

Speaking after an NCA meeting in Juba, on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Prof. Akech stated that the concept note was passed and endorsed, with observations considered.

The initiative is expected to boost research and innovation, particularly in the field of satellite technology to position South Sudan in the emerging space science sector.

“Among the many issues that we discussed was a concept note about establishing a space engineering laboratory at the University of Juba an initiative that is going to be funded by the NCA,” Prof. Akech stated.

“This will foster innovation technology and development in South Sudan by training the next generation of space scientists and space engineers, especially in satellite engineering,” he said.

“It can be used for various that concept note was passed and endorsed and observation taken on board.”
