Police have arrested 14 people suspected of killing of a foreign trader in Aweil East County, Northern Bahr el Ghazal state.

The suspects are accused of robbing and killing the trader along the road between Warawar and Aweil town last week.

The body of the deceased was found dumped at Rol Chol in Aweil West County.

Maj Gen Peter Mading Duor, the state Police Commissioner, said the suspects were found with arms and other stolen properties.

“These people committed a lot of crimes. When we went to where they live, we found a lot of guns, and Thuraya phone, we found a hand grenade, and also some ammunitions,” said Maj Gen Mading.

“We also found stolen cars in their home, and some ID cards belonging to some Ugandan nationals.

“So, these people have committed many crimes. We are now still investigating the case because it is a network of criminals; it includes people in the army, whom we know their names. And we are searching for them.”

Maj Gen Mading said the suspect robbed more than 1.6 million pounds from the trader.

He said they recovered only 1.4 million pounds.
