The caretaker Governor of Northern Bahr El- Ghazal is appealing to the President to accept the creation of new counties in his state.

Kuel Ngor Aguer, told Eye Radio in Juba that there is need to create more Counties and Payams to meet the demands of the huge population.

He says currently Northern Bahr El-Ghazal State only has five counties:

“The other thing we have discussed is the issue of division of administrative units in the state because the issue of development these days is transferred to the counties. Despite that the total population in our state is 720,000 people, we have only five counties.

So this can create for us problems when there are transfers based on the number of counties. The budget will not be enough for us”, the State Governor said.

Earlier Governor Aguer met with Members of Parliament who represent Northern Bahr El-Ghazal State in the National Legisilative Assembly and the Council of State.

He said they also discussed the security situation in the state.

Northern Bahr El-Ghazal is one of the five states of South Sudan, which shares border with the Sudan.
