Mvolo runs out of medical supplies

Author : | Published: Friday, June 13, 2014

Health centers in Mvolo County, Western Equatoria, have no basic drugs, according to an official.

The Commissioner of Mvolo says there is a shortage in his county.

James Abdullah told Eye Radio that his community lacks adequate medical services.

He says as a result, patients are forced to travel 27 miles to access health facilities.

“We have primary healthcare centers in Momvolo County and another primary healthcare center in Yeri; they don’t give better services to the people and the capacities of these two centers are not enough for the population,” said Mr Abdullah.

“Sometime when there is patient or we have an emergency, for example someone has hernia or a woman is about to deliver, we have to take them from Mvolo to Mapuordit [in Lakes State] and this is a distance of 27 miles.”
