Members of parliament from Upper Nile and Unity States are calling for the national parliament to go on recess to allow lawmakers to mobilize peace and reconciliation campaigns across the country.

An MP representing Renk County, Hon. Deng Chol Deng, says they should go to their respective states and spread peace messages.

“This peace needs some apologies. Let the Speaker of the National Parliament call for recess and the MP’s to go to their geographical constituencies to work for peace and reconciliation messages,” Hon Deng told Eye Radio.

Hon. Riak Manyiel, MP representing Pariang County in Unity State, says resources should be mobilized to enable the peace campaigns run successfully.

“We need to change our mobilization messages from war to peace and also to mobilize the resources to be collected so that people can go back to development because our war is war of poverty and hunger.”
