Members of National Legislative Assembly representing Akobo County have condemned a tribal violence involving killing of an Anyuak chief in the area this week.

Earlier this week, body of a Lou Nuer man allegedly killed by members of Anyuak community, was retrieved from Akobo River.

A post-mortem later showed that he was “stabbed several times in the back before he was strangled”.

This triggered clashes between the two communities, leaving Anyuak head chief Chol Odio dead and several others wounded.

Timothy Taban Juch, who represents Akobo in the National Legislative Assembly, appealed to Jonglei state government to help restore peace in his county.

Akobo County is inhabited by both Anyuak and Lou Nuer communities.
