Health facilities in Maridi County of Western Equatoria State have run out of drugs for two months now according to Asiki Festus, the County Director of Health.

“We have numerous challenges, in the first place the drugs are not there, the medicines are not there, these are the challenges that we are facing,” Festus told Eye Radio.

“The last consignment we received was around July and we have received the report of getting another consignment which is C 21, but of course this consignment is only coming for seven health facilities.

He said the county received the last supply of drugs in July this year.

“All the challenges, of course, we raised through the state government and it will be the one to raise it to the national government.”

Maridi County previously had 31 functioning health facilities.

These include 23 Primary Healthcare Units, 7 Primary Healthcare Centers, and one Maridi hospital.

But most were rendered dysfunctional with only 8 facilities currently working after the Health Pool Fund pulled out in August last year.
