Lobong briefs President Kiir on Kapoeta-Kenyan border security situation

President Kiir on Wednesday met with Eastern Equatoria State Governor Louis Lobong to discuss the security situation in parts of Kapoeta East County.

Governor Lobong held a meeting with the president and gave updates on the recent ethnic tension that resulted in clashes between the pastoral communities at the border.

The governor said a Joint Border Committee has been established to engage Kenyan authorities and the local communities to resolve border tension between the two countries.

“Lobong also added that communities along border should work together and ensure that they share their resources amicably,” reads the statement from the Office of the President.

The meeting was also attended by Deng Dau Deng, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Marial Benjamin, the Ministerof PresidentialAffairs and JosephineNapeon, the Minister of Environment.
