Lawyers set to elect Bar’s leadership

Author : | Published: Thursday, February 5, 2015

The South Sudan Bar association will elect its first leadership body on Monday.

The spokesperson for high election committee, Peter Matias, says over 200 lawyers who have licenses and qualifications will participate in the elections process.

Mr. Matias said they have published a list of candidates and voters.

“The high election committee is inviting all the media houses and civil societies and human rights organization and people of South Sudan to attend and watch the elections,” he added.

The elections were postponed in December last year after two lawyers, William Othwon and Lake Malul, filed a petition against the legitimacy of the steering and the election committees.

The court has dismissed the case.
