Police in Lakes State are investigating an incident on Friday in which a woman poured hot water on her husband leaving him with severe burns, for having allegedly married another woman.
Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makuac revealed that the incident occurred in Rumbek town and the man is currently admitted at a hospital in critical condition.
Maj. Makuac said the suspect whose name has been withheld was apprehended and detained at police custody pending further investigation.
“We recorded a case of a woman that pour at her husband body hot water, and the husband got burn seriously, and is now admitted in Rumbek state Hospital,” he said.
He said preliminary information indicates that the motive of the suspects was that her husband married another woman while she was away for treatment in Juba.
“During the investigation, it was found out that the cause of their conflict was the woman went for a treatment in Juba and after that, her man married another wife.
“Upon her coming back, they quarrel and start fighting with her husband then she poured hot water into the body of her husband. So the investigation is still ongoing in police till when the man recover, their case will be present in the court of law.”
