Lakes gas stations reopen

In Lakes State, filling stations have now reopened in the capital, Rumbek after a closure for days.

They stopped selling in protest against a directive from the state government, asking them to reduce the prices.

“I did an interview the minister of finance, Daniel Kuol. He told me that the reason the fuel stations closed was because they directed companies to sell a litter at 9 pounds,” Michael Makuach reported from Rumbek.

The gas stations were selling a litter at 12 pounds.

Makuach said the stations have reopened but are overcrowded as motorists struggle for the gas.

“The line is too long: vehicles, motor cycles and those with jerry cans. The boda boda motorcycle riders were telling me that some have spent four, three or two hours in the line.”
