Nine people have been killed and 15 others injured in a clash between two communities in Rumbek East County, the security advisor in Lakes State has said.

Marial Amum says took place at a road junction between Pachong and Panawach villages on Monday.

He said the clash was a revenge for the killing of a businessman on the same day. Mr Marial says he visited the area to appeal to the communities to stop fighting.

“We managed to separate the groups. But the number of forces was very small, but later on, we tried to increase it. We have a very huge force not less than 300,” he said.

Mr Marial said the killing of the unnamed businessman caused communal clashes due to previous grudges.
