President Kiir has spoken today with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in his first-ever state visit to Moscow.

At the opening of the meeting, Putin assured President Kiir, that his administration would do its utmost best to support him.

“We are ready to expand on this cooperation further. I hope that this activity will progress.

“Definitely,  we are aware of the fact that further progressive activities and the security situation to resolve all your progressive legacies of problems you inherited in the past are necessary.

“So, we will do our utmost to support you in this domain. Also, I really, am glad you have found an opportunity to pay us a visit to discuss all of these issues and talk about regional instability and insecurity.

But, Putin asked President Kiir how he would want Russia to help the security situation in South Sudan to resolve the legacies of all the problems in the past.

“I would really want to know what your take is all about.

In response, President Salva Kiir says he was very happy to be invited by the Russian President.

“I am happy that I’m here today and will have to say other things maybe in the same meeting and the other meetings and we will work together as the world states nobody can work alone and I can not do it alone.

However, he says, South Sudan is the youngest country in the world and it needs a strong friend, and Russia is one of them.

He adds that South Sudan does not have any alternative besides the Russian President.

” We need strong friends and you are one of them. We don’t see any alternative besides you. Today I don’t really have much to say but I have to thank you for the invitation.”
