Kiir to commission modern Terminal 3 at Juba Airport on Thursday – Minister Rizik

The Minister of Transport, Rizik Zakaria Hassan, has announced that President Salva Kiir will officially inaugurate the newly constructed Terminal 3 at Juba International Airport on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in South Sudan’s drive to modernize its aviation infrastructure and enhance international air travel services.

Ahead of the inauguration, the President on Wednesday received a briefing on the final state of preparedness from the Minister of Transport, Rizik Zakaria Hassan, and the Director General of the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority, Dr. Ayiei Garang Deng.

According to the Office of the President, the officials informed the President that all arrangements for the commissioning had been completed and that the facility is ready for operation handover.

Minister Rizik described the new terminal as landmark achievement for the country’s aviation sector, underscoring the government’s commitment in modern transport infrastructure to support economic growth, facilitate trade, and enhance regional and international connectivity.

Terminal 3 has been designed to service both international arrivals and departures, significantly expanding the airport’s operational capacity while providing passengers with improved facilities, more efficient processing, and a higher standard of service.

The commissioning of the terminal forms part of the government’s broader infrastructure development agenda aimed at strengthening strategical asserts, improving public services, and positioning South Sudan as an emerging regional transport hub.
