Kiir sends VP Igga on peace tour to Upper Nile State

President Salva Kiir Monday instructed Vice President Dr. Wani Igga to tour Upper Nile State “to popularize the message of peace and reconciliation” ahead of elections.

Kiir and his deputy met to discuss the security and economic situation in the country.

According to a statement from Kiir’s office, Dr. Igga has been delegated to tour Upper Nile State as the country prepares for elections.

It is not clear when he will depart to the oil-rich border state.

Meanwhile, VP Igga, who is the head of Economic Cluster – was recently tasked to come up with plans to address economic hardship as the country struggles with inflation.

He reportedly told the meeting after the meeting that “they” have made certain strategies to address the key underlying issues confronting the country.
