Kiir cancels sacking of Latjor, Western Nile officials

Author : | Published: Wednesday, March 16, 2016

The Office of the President has issued an order canceling the decision of the Governor of Eastern Nile State to sack employees who are from Latjor and Western Nile.

The civil servants were employed by the former Upper Nile State government, but after the creation of more states, Upper Nile was divided into three: Eastern Nile, Western Nile and Latjor.

The Governor of Eastern Nile, Chol Thon, issued a directive in February, terminating employments of those who fall under the two new states.

According to the presidential order, the civil servants should be reinstated and retained in the payroll of Eastern Nile State.

The Minister in the Office of the President, Awan Guol Riak says what he calls a divisive and destructive order is creating more social rift.

It is not clear how many employees were affected.
