President Salva Kiir has traveled to the United Arab Emirates for bilateral talks, according to his press secretary.
Lily Adhieu Martin told reporters at Juba International Airport that President Kiir is in the Gulf nation to follow up on previous bilateral issues discussed by the two countries.
“His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit president of the Republic of South Sudan departed for the United Arabs Emirates,” said Adhieu on Sunday.
“This trip was planned to follow up on issues of mutual interests previously discussed between the two countries, and while in the UAE, it is expected that senior members of the delegation will hold bilateral meetings with Emirati officials on many areas of cooperation.”
Kiir, who traveled in the company of senior government officials, will hold a one-on-one meeting with Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, the presidential spokesperson said.
It is the third visit of President Kiir to the United Arab Emirates.
In February 2022, he attended the Dubai Expo 2020.
Also in April, Kiir and several senior government officials visited the United State Arab Emirates on a diplomatic mission.
