Presidential press secretary, Ateny Wek Ateny, says President Kiir today signed the media bills into law.

The bills include the right of access to information, media authority and public broadcasting cooperation.

The bills were passed by the parliament last year and sent to the office of the President for assent.

On Sunday, journalists met the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Michael Makuei Lueth, and the Presidential Press Secretary, Ateny Wek Ateny.

The media bills had been under discussion in the country since 2008.
