Kiir donates land-cruiser, SSP 15m to Torit Bishop-elect

President Salva Kiir has pledged fifteen million South Sudanese pounds and a land cruiser to the Bishop-elect of the Catholic Diocese of Torit, Eastern Equatoria State.

The Minister of Presidential Affairs, Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin announced the donation during the 100th anniversary of the Torit catholic diocese on Sunday.

Minister Marial says the Landcruiser V6 is to enable the bishop to travel around the state to promote peace among the people.

“To bring peace and reconciliation is very important to all of us and for that matter Bishop-elect, President Salva on behalf of his government and on behalf of all the people of South Sudan is going to donate land cruiser six doors to our Bishop,” said Marial Benjamin.

“Our President also says he is giving fifteen million South Sudanese pounds as a donation.”

Father Emmanuel Bernardino Lowi was appointed on November 7 by Pope Francis.

He has replaced his predecessor, Stephen Ameyu who is now the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba.

According to the Vatican, Bishop-elect Emmanuel Bernardino Lowi will be consecrated in the coming weeks, but the date has not been specified.
