President Salva Kiir has endorsed an agreement that has been signed by the Western Equatoria State government and the Arrow boy in Yambio, the caretaker governor has said.

The agreement is meant to end hostilities was signed last month.

Major-General Patrick Zamoi says a committee will be sent to the area for a final communique between the two groups.

He says the move is a major step to ensure there is stability in Western Equatoria State.

“For the other groups which did not make a commitment, still door is open and I have come again to engage myself with them in dialogue so that we come to a peaceful settlement,” Maj-Gen Zamoi said.

In the past few month, fighting between the Arrow boys and the SPLA has left many displaced and several lives taken.

Last week, state officials reported that a gunship attack in Mundri left about 50 people dead.
