Ki-moon arrives in Juba

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Juba this morning on a one-day visit to South Sudan.

While in Juba, the UN Secretary-General will meet with President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

He will also hold discussions with civil society leaders, especially women and religious groups, among others.

Ban Ki-moon will visit the protection of civilians site in the UNMISS Tongpiny compound in the company of the Head of the UN Mission in South Sudan, Ms. Hilde Johnson.

While at the UNMISS protection site, he will meet with the community leaders representing the thousands of civilians who have sought shelter in the UNMISS compound to hear of their concerns first hand.

The Secretary-General is also expected to meet with UN staff and peacekeepers.
