Juba Monitor unfolding

The Managing Editor of the Juba Monitor newspaper, Michael Koma, who was arrested last week, has been released on bail yesterday. The Editor-in-Chief of the Juba Monitor appeared before the police this morning to give statement on the story published by his newspaper regarding the traffic policeman who was murdered last month. Alfred Taban Logune, spoke to Eye Radio from the police station in Juba, and said that he was still being interrogated.

The Juba Monitor’s Managing Editor, Michael Koma, was arrested last week on charges that the newspaper published a story that was associating a senior government official from the ministry of interior with the death of a traffic policeman. The 2013 Press Freedom Index issued by Reporters Without Borders ranks South Sudan number at 124 out of 180 countries.
