Joint force deployed to secure Juba during holidays: Bilpam

An unspecified number of joint security force comprising the army and other regular forces are being deployed to Juba and its surrounding to provide security during the Christmas and New Year holidays, the army spokesperson said.

SSPDF Spokesperson Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai also confirmed that the joint force has removed illegal check points along the major highways leading to the capital.

In a statement on Thursday, Gen. Lul said the army in coordination with other organized forces have rolled out the necessary arrangements to enhance security and public safety during the festive season.

He said the forces will be deployed at major roundabouts, markets, transport hubs, recreations centers and religious sites.

According to Major General Lul Ruai, the joint security forces will conduct both vehicles and foot patrol in hotspots areas characterized by high rate of criminal activities.

He stated that the SSPDF leadership urges all the citizens and foreign national to cooperate with the security forces and report suspicious activities for pre-emptive measure.

Concerning the insecurity in Tambura County, of Western Equatoria State, Major General Lul Ruai said the SSPDF has deployed a battalion to the area to restore law and order.

Meanwhile, he confirmed that a joint security forces has implemented order on the removal all the illegal checkpoints collection illegal taxes along Juba-Nimule highway, Juba-Bor road, Juba-Kajo-Keji road and Juba Maridi road.
