An Israeli solar and social development enterprise says it is leading a fundraising campaign to provide a solar-powered generator in South Sudan.

In a statement, the Energiya Global says it will provide the power to His House of Hope, a hospital for women and children in Yei.

The hospital provides prenatal and postpartum care for women in order to reduce the rate of infant and maternal mortality, and provides a safe birthing environment.

The enterprise says many basic resources are dependent on a reliable and affordable source of electricity.

It says by providing a solar installation to His House of Hope Hospital, it will increase the facility’s ability to care for the ill, assist birthing mothers and prevent the spread of disease in the region.
