Imatong gets relief food

Author : | Published: Friday, April 1, 2016

The Governor of Imotong says the World Food Program has intervened in providing food to the hungry people in the state.

Eye Radio reported last week that people in many parts of the state were feeding on wild fruits due to lack of food.

Nartisio Loluke Manir made an urgent appeal for assistance to some 400,000 people, warning that the situation could worsen to an emergency level.

Mr Nartisio now says some parts of the state have received some assistance, although he says the supply is small.

“We want to acknowledge the role of WFP in responding recently in some parts of Ikotos and some parts of Lopa/Lafon though it’s quiet very little food, very little,” he told Eye Radio.

“But for us in this state, whatever little have been given to us, we thank you.”

Mr Nartisio has also appealed for further assistance to other parts of the state that have not received any food until now.
