Ikotos & Budi counties embrace peace

Communities from Ikotos and Budi Counties in Eastern Equatoria State have signed a peace agreement to avoid conflict amongst themselves.

The Catholic Diocese of Torit facilitated the peace and reconciliation dialogue with support from its partners.

The Chief facilitator of the conference, Kongo Manasseh, says the two communities have resolved to engage in continuous dialogue and ensure that resources are shared equally amongst them.

“We shall renounce permanently any resort to cattle raiding, revenge killing and any form of violence in our communities. We here after allow freedom of movement for our people amongst our communities without any hindrances or threat of violence, we also agree to stop road ambushes immediately.” He said.
