The press secretary of Fashoda County in Upper Nile State says the residents of the area are in dire need of food.

Matar Al-Sheikh says the food scarcity is caused by lack of rains in the region.

He says pests have also destroyed crops cultivated in most of the areas.

“The attacks on crops by pests have caused a huge damage on farms in different areas in the County and now the citizens are dire need because they no longer have anything in their farms at this time as we talk.” He said.

Matar also said the County is facing severe shortage of essential drugs as health facilities lack medicine.
