Holy Family FC of Rumbek began the South Sudan Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Lion Hunter FC of Yei team in the second week of the tournament.

The match that was held on Thursday at Juba National Stadium, secured Holy Family’s first three points in the league after their first-week fixture against Olympic Renk was postponed due to Renk’s late arrival in Juba.

Despite being outplayed for most of the match, Holy Family capitalized on their chances as Abraham Chol opened the scoring in the 12th minute, followed by a quick second goal from Malok Awet in the 17th minute.

The first half ended with Holy Family leading 2-0, despite relentless efforts from Yei’s Lion Hunters.

In the 46th minute of the second half, Lion Hunters’ Henry Mawa reduced the deficit and a few minutes later,  Holy Family sealed their lead with a 70th minute goal.

Lion Hunters’ Mawa scored the second goal again but it meant nothing as the matched ended 3-2.

In the SSPL table, Kator lead with 6 points and 2 goals, followed by Jamus with 4 points and 4 goals.
