The High Court handling the case of the four political detainees has rejected a request by the Prosecution Counsel to file a uniform charge of treason, combining the four and the seven released former detainees.

The leader of the Defense Counsel, Monyluak Alor, suggested to the court that the request of the prosecution counsel be “put aside”.

He said this during a review of yesterday’s resolutions at the opening session of the fourth hearing of the court case.

Monyluak Alor said the prosecution side made a technical mistake” of giving “unclear bail status” to the former political detainees.

However, Counsel James Mayen Oka from the prosecution side said they’re insisting on bringing back the seven political detainees.

After 15 minutes of recess, the panel of Judges, led by Justice Alala, decided that the four political detainees should be tried separately from the four.

They also cited the grounds on which the seven political leaders were given bail, saying that there were “no references made to show the manner in which they were released.
