Heavy rains leave 6 dead in Magwi

Seven people have drowned due to the heavy rains this week Magwi County, Eastern Equatoria State, the commissioner has said.

Ben Kingstone told Eye Radio that six died in Owinykibul and another was carried away by a high water current on Atepi River, Pajok.

These deaths are the first to happen this month. the others died when a mudslide destroyed their houses.

“One person who was told not to cross but he insisted. He was washed away.” Mr Kingstone explained.

He urged people to move to higher grounds in order to save lives and property.
