Chelsea and Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech has been blocked by France’s football-governing body, leaving the player unable to sign for Paris Saint Germain on the transfer window deadline day.

Ziyech was in the French capital expecting to sign for the star-studded PSG, but the registration was not completed and so he will return to Chelsea for the rest of the season.

BBC Sport understand the player contacted Chelsea owner Todd Boehly directly in an effort to resolve the matter, but his pleas were ultimately unsuccessful.
