Gunship reportedly attacks Mundri

Author : | Published: Thursday, November 26, 2015

The Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria state, Bullen Abiataraj says a gunship has bombarded Medewu Payam in Mundri West County, Western Equatoria State.

Mr Abiataraj says this forced thousands of civilians to flee their homes to the bushes and neighboring areas for safety on Wednesday.

He says the gunship has not been identified.

The bombing comes one week after youth in greater Mundri signed an agreement with SPLA soldiers to cease all hostilities against each other.

There have been reports of continued attacks between the youth and the SPLA forces in the area for the last four months.

“The gunship went and started shooting, bombarding that area, particularly Medewu. The casualties is yet to be confirmed,” Mr Abiataraj told Eye Radio.

The SPLA says it has no information about the incident.

“I tried to ask, but I don’t have any information,” said Col Phillip Aguer, spokesperson.
