Gunmen overrun Raja

Officials in Lol State say gunmen have attacked Raja, targeting the houses of government officials.

No casualties were reported.

The SPLA spokesperson, Brigadier Lul Ruai Koang, says he could not confirm or deny the incident.

The secretary of the SPLM in the state, Kamis Amed, says a group of gunmen attacked the town this morning. He told Eye Radio that he was on the run.

“In fact, we are just running but we our army are here and are ready to repulse these people,” he added.

For his part, Lol state coordinator in Juba, Ibrahim Surur, said he received information about the attack.

He told Eye Radio that the gunmen were in Raja town.

“Somebody called me and then told me that they are now outside Raja – in the bush – but I don’t know where. The gunmen I think they are inside Raja,” Mr Surur told Eye Radio.

On his part, the SPLA spokesperson, Brigadier Lul Ruai Koang, said he could not confirm or deny the incident.
