The US Ambassador to South Sudan has urged the government to re-open The Nation Mirror Newspaper, which was shut down indefinitely on Tuesday.
Security officials accused the newspaper of being anti-government, citing a story in one of the articles published by the paper last month.
In a statement today, Charles Twining says he is unhappy with the closure of the newspaper.
He says he is alarmed by recent reports of intimidation and harassment of journalists.
