Govt starts paying employees on new salary structure

The civil servants and organized forces across South Sudan have finally started receiving their new salaries after nearly four months of waiting.

“They received it yesterday (Monday) and the others are continuing to receive it,” lawmaker John Agany, the spokesperson of the National Legislative Assembly told reporters on Tuesday.

The Honorable adds that the wages and salaries are being paid under the new salary structure that was approved by the Parliament in August this year.

This means government employees have been with salaries for three months as the financial year began in July.

The 400% increment is believed will address the financial challenges faced by civil servants and organized forces, especially in meeting the market demand.
