Gov’t insists on ‘complete’ list of SPLM-IO advance team

The government says it has received an ‘incomplete list’ of the 560 members of the SPLM-In Opposition advance team that will be coming to Juba.

It is not yet clear when they will arrive in the country.

But James Gatdet, spokesperson of SPLM-In opposition leader Dr Riek Machar, said the team will be in Juba as soon as IGAD finishes arrangements for their transport.

The Minister of Information, Michael Makuei Lueth, told Eye Radio that the government has asked the Opposition to send a more detailed list of the advance team.

“We asked them to send us the complete list. To send us a list written in alphabetical order without title, without status, without seniority, without rank,” Mr Makuei stated.

It’s unclear why the names have to be in alphabetical order.

“We are still waiting for them,” he added.

The Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission and Members of the international community have been giving pressure to both sides to speed up the peace process and form a transitional government of national unity.
