He also said the relative calm has contributed to increased access of children to schools, and businesses and agricultural productivity are improving as a result.

“Lakes State is now peaceful, people are moving freely, children are back to school, local businesses and agricultural productivity have improved. The state government has banned forced and early child marriage and provide free basic education.”

“Despite this achievement, we have some security burden in some parts of the country and I therefore appeal to the state government and chief administrators to work for peace, unity and reconciliation among our people”.

For his part, Eastern Equatoria State governor Louis Lobong Lojore reiterates his commitment in improving quality of education in the area.

“We are constantly working to improve the quality of education and access to it. Much has been done already yet there is still much more to be desired. We have extended governance to the rural areas and made the government accountable to the people”.
