The Minister of Cabinet Affairs says a date has been proposed for the launch of the Inter-Party Dialogue aimed at building consensus among political stakeholders ahead of elections.
The announcement by Minister Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro, who also serves as rapporteur of the Inter-Party Steering Committee, comes after the Office of the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Programmes indicated that the dialogue would be launched next month.
“We have confirmed a number of things. We have produced the work plan for the inter-party dialogue, a concept note and a methodology document that will guide us towards the election. We have also formed technical groups, five technical committees that are charged with the responsibility to address particular areas that need to be dialogued upon,” he said.
The Inter-Party Dialogue is expected to bring together all political parties, including holdout groups outside the peace process, to discuss key issues related to the December 2026 elections.
Lomuro said key preparatory documents have been completed to guide the dialogue process.
He said a work plan, concept note, and methodology document have been developed. He added that five technical committees have also been formed to guide discussions on issues related to the elections.
“These include committees on legal and constitutional affairs, political and governance issues, electoral preparedness, stakeholder engagement, and security and civic space. The committees have already done substantial work and are meeting daily to prepare recommendations on issues to be discussed during the dialogue,” he said.
The minister further revealed that a proposed launch date has been identified and a list of invitees prepared.
He made the remarks after a meeting of the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee in Juba on Wednesday.
The Inter-Party Steering Committee was established in February 2026 by President Salva Kiir Mayardit. It is tasked with overseeing preparations for the dialogue process and the broader electoral roadmap.
