The governor of Central Equatoria State has led a bloated delegation to Uganda’s West Nile region to meet authorities there on security and cross-border trade-related issues.

Emmanuel Adil arrived on Thursday in Yumbe District, accompanied by his advisors, cabinet ministers, parliamentarians, commissioners, security chiefs, and community leaders.

Officials from the ministry of foreign affairs and International cooperation are also on the team.

A post on his official social media page stated that Governor Adil will engage with Ugandan authorities in the border towns of Uganda particularly Yumbe, Koboko, and Moyo.

“Central Equatoria as the host state for the National capital, Juba also serves as the state capital is a lifeline for the economy nationwide, hence the need to strengthen and deepened cross border security and peace for smooth and effective trade between the two sisterly Nations,” said his office in a social media statement.

Security along the southern border of South Sudan and Uganda has deteriorated over the years, due to the heavy presence of armed groups and occasional, but deadly clashes between regular troops.
